Three people had to be rescued from a second-floor flat after a fuse box caught fire.
Fire crews from West Norwood fire station were called to Carlton Place near Gipsy Hill station at 3.15am following reports of a fire.
They found three people trapped on the flat’s balcony, helped them to safety and treated them for smoke inhalation.
A spokesman for the fire station said investigators later discovered a fault in the flat’s fuse box which had caused it to melt and spark the blaze.
