Aspiring fashion designers have created cutting edge clutch-bags to make it to the final of a national competition.

Westwood Girls College in Spurgeon Road, Upper Norwood, is providing a fifth of the finalists at the Clothes Show Live with students Shanice Howell and Chekera Parris-Townsend, both 15, both making it through to the last 10 to appear at the NEC Birmingham on December 6.

The girls, who are doing a BTEC in Fashion, were told to produce the accessory using any shape they wished.

Shanice used a diamond as her inspiration while Chereka produced an angel wing shaped bag.

Rachael Ford, head of Design at the college, said: “We had a lot of top quality entries from our students but because the ages had to be 15 to 18, many were too young. We are still delighted to have two through to the final 10.”
