By Clare Biggs; Clarendon Road, Raynes Park
The parking situation in Clarendon Road and adjacent roads has become frustrating for local residents.
An independent survey revealed that most residents would like a one hour controlled parking zone (CPZ) introduced.
The decision made by Councillor Andrew Judge is to ignore this as there was “no majority for changing the hours of the CPZ operation” and to continue with an all day operation.
In the official consultation, the residents were not offered the choice of a one hour CPZ, nor do many know that it exists.
As with many previous issues with parking in the Borough of Merton, the Council are being uncompromising and deaf to local opinion.
Perhaps, for once, the Council can make a decision in-line with the desires of the community to which this decision will affect, and not one that is most beneficial to the coffers of the Council?
