Crime on public transport has fallen in the past six months.

New figures released by Transport for London show a fall in crimes committed on buses.

Statistics show between April and September this year, there were 7.7 per cent less crimes on buses compared to the same period last year.

Overall, crimes on buses have reduced since 2007, falling by 32.8 per cent. Chief Superintendent Sultan Taylor, Safer Transport Command said: "Bus related crime in the capital is now at its lowest level for seven years, which is a testament to the Safer Transport Command's partnership with TfL."

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said: “It is vital for Londoners economic prosperity and quality of life that people can travel around this city safely. That’s why I made this a major priority and I am pleased the measures we have put in place over the last three years seem to be paying off.”
