A recent police action day focused on burglaries, antisocial driving and drug crime in the Dittons and Hinchley Wood areas.

Officers teamed up with Surrey Fire and Rescue and Surrey County Council to address concerns raised at police panel meetings.

Burglary prevention advice and forensic DNA security kits were handed out and street signs were put up advertising the areas’ security tactics.

PC Katie Kennedy said: “The reaction from the public was very encouraging with local residents saying they felt the police were taking positive steps to prevent people becoming the next victim of crime.”

Speed enforcement checks were also carried out, which resulted in nine Fixed Penalty Notices and 13 verbal warnings being issued.

Foot patrols near Long Ditton Infant School and St Mary’s School monitored parking problems and advice was issued to motorists caught parking Licensing checks at three taxi ranks and six pubs were conducted, with drugs swabs taken at the premises.

Inspector David Hollingsworth said: “We made several excellent interventions through our close working relationship with partner organisations and I hope this gives people in Elmbridge the confidence that together with our partners we are listening to them and will do our best to address the issues they raise.”
