Epsom and Ewell Council has been awarded a grant of £2,500 to support their new Home Improvement Agency.

The money will be used to fund minor electrical works in the homes of vulnerable residents, particularly if there is a concern for electrical safety.

To be eligible for the scheme residents must be a homeowner aged 21 years or over and registered disabled, or a homeowner aged 60 years or over who is either receiving means tested benefit, state pension only with no other income, or registered disabled.

Councillor Jean Steer, chairman of the social committee said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this invaluable funding from the Electrical Safety Council.

“This new funding stream will complement our Home Improvement Agency and help those residents that need our support more than others to live in warm, safe and secure environments.”
