A charity for end of life care has won an award for its gardens.

Trinity Hospice, in Clapham Common North Side, was given a gold award by The London Gardens Society for its rear gardens.

It also picked up a bronze medal for its front garden in a ceremony held at London's Guildhall.

Mark Barling, who manages the gardens said: "It's lovely to get such an honour for all the hard work put in by our gardeners.

"The gardens are very important, they mean so much to the patients and our visitors, as well as our staff."

The awards were collected by volunteer gardener Rob Williamson and a tribute was given to staff gardener Michael Halman, who recently left Trinity.

Chairman of The London Garden Society commented on how Trinity's gardens and its building complemented each other.

He said patients and visitors could enjoy the gardens from the hospice's rooms.
