A 17-year-old entrepeneur has won the backing of computer giant Microsoft for his conference bringing online contacts face-to-face.

College student Henry Moulton from Wimbledon Park and fellow organiser Callum Hill – an 18-year-old university student from Derby – have created TeenWebConf to allow young developers and internet- focused entrepeneurs to meet and share advice.

Mr Moulton said: “There’s no real networking for young programmers and entepeneurs.

“Programming is very solitary a lot of the time – you’re not meeting other people.”

When the pair approached Microsoft with their idea, the software company agreed to supply expert speakers and host the event at its central London office next month.

The pair expect at least 100 people to attend the conference at Cardinal Place in Victoria on December 10.

It will feature speakers from social networking websites and web development companies – as well as BBC Junior Apprentice candidate Emma Walker.

Mr Moulton said: “We’ve never done anything like it. It’s been a great experience and I’ve learned a lot.”

The Melrose Avenue resident is a student at the prestigious Harrow school and hopes to study business and IT at university.

A Microsoft spokesman said: “We live in a time where great ideas rule the world, and TeenWebConf looks set to help people from all kinds of backgrounds and levels of experience bring theirs to life.

“We’re excited to be supporting an event that brings together inspirational speakers, a great panel, and outstanding networking opportunities for young people.”
