Young public speakers tested their rhetoric skills at a borough-wide competition building to a national grand final.
Teams from eight schools contested the Rotary International Youth Speaks at Oasis Academy Shirley Park on Wednesday November 16.
Royal Russell School won the intermediate section and Thomas More Catholic School succeeded in the seniors.
Cliff Quartly, New Generations officer of Croydon East Rotary Club, said: “This was once again an outstanding example of the commitment and abilities of the young people of Croydon.
“This was and always is a “fun evening” and presents the students with a wonderful opportunity to meet with and listen to their fellows in other schools.”
A partnership of four rotary clubs, Coulsdon Manor, Croydon, Croydon Jubilee and Croydon Whitgift, alongside Croydon East worked to organise the event.
The victors will progress to the final in Wrexham, Wales on April 28 next year.
