A grieving family whose son was murdered have released a booklet to discourage youngsters from turning to crime.

The family of Chris Donovan, from Ewell, who was kicked to death in 2001 by a gang of youths, have visited prisons for seven years to speak to offenders.

The booklet, entitled Five Minutes of Madness, is aimed at eleven to fourteen year olds.

It looks at the real life experience of people who are in prison for their 'five minutes of madness' including a promising young boxer who stabbed someone to death.

Ray Donovan said: "We believe that education is the best tool to make the young people of today understand that the results their actions will not only have on them, and their victims but their family and the community too.

"Hopefully they will stop and think for five minutes before doing something out character that will ruin their lives forever."
