The jury in the trial of five youths accused of murdering a teenage athlete has retired to consider its verdict.
Sylvester Akapalara, 17, from Streatham, was hit in the neck by a single bullet as he and two friends tried to escape from the youths on the Pelican Estate in Peckham last December, the Old Bailey heard.
The gunman, said to be 18-year-old David Nyamupfukudza, of Nunstead Road, New Cross, denies murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of wounding with intent, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and having an offensive weapon.
The jury in the case is expected to deliver its verdict this afternoon or tomorrow morning.
