Crystal Palace lock horns with south London rivals Millwall at Selhurst Park this Saturday with manager Dougie Freedman promising his players won't let Eagles fans down.

The Lions enjoyed bragging rights last season as they did the double over Palace when George Burley was in charge thanks to a 1-0 win at Selhurst Park and a 3-0 defeat at The New Den - which ultimately cost Burley his job.

Saturday's match is the first time Freedman will have managed in the derby and although he insists it is not the be all and end all, he knows how much it means to the supporters.

"It is an important game because it is a derby and there is excitement for the fans," he said.

"But it is not going to be the end of the world.

"It is another game of football we have to prepare right for and there is an added spice to it as it is a derby.

"If we can prepare properly and perform the way we have been doing we won't let our fans down."

Palace go into the game on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Leicester City on Sunday, which extended their winless run to four games.

The Eagles have also not scored in 395 minutes of Championship football but Freedman is not concerned so long as they keep creating chances.

"When I went through a spell as a player not taking chances as long as you are getting them then it is not a problem," he said.

"We created a few chances at Leicester but we just couldn't take them."
