A 20-year-old man has been arrested following a stabbing in Wallington.
A 19-year-old woman was taken to hospital after being treated by doctors from London Air Ambulance.
The incident occurred outside flats in Harcourt Road at 11.40 this morning.
The woman suffered injuries to her back but is said to be in a stable condition.
Police, who were patrolling the area as part of a local crime crackdown were given a description of a man and began searching the area.
A man was arrested in nearby Beddington Park, with cuts to his hand by officers from Operation Hawk.
The man is also being treated in hospital, but is expected to be questioned by police this afternoon.
Detectives from Sutton’s Community Safety Unit are appealing for witnesses to an altercation between a man and woman in Harcourt Road between 11.30 - 11.45hrs today.
