Christmas lights are being turned on all across Wandsworth over the next few weeks as the borough gets into the festive spirit.

The mayor of Wandsworth will be switching the lights on in Clapham Junction on Wednesday, November 30 at 6pm.

There will be a performance from a Christmas gospel choir and X factor finalist Johnny Robinson afterwards.

From next Saturday Battersea High Street will be transformed into a Christmas Wonderland, with a Santa's grotto and a traditional market.

A Christmas tree ceremony is taking place in Tooting at St Nicholas Church in Church Lane on November 30 from 4pm.

On December 2 Putney will be hosting a tree lights ceremony in Church Square, with market stalls, food and late night shopping.

Visitors to Ritherdon Road in Balham will be treated to food, wine tasting and spa treatments.

The Christmas street party is on from 11am to 4pm on Sunday December 11.

Poet and comedian John Hegley is switching the lights on in Northcote Road on December 7.

Christmas characters will parade around the area in the original sleigh from the Harry Potter films, pulled by two reindeer from 5.30pm.
