More than 40 people were arrested in Croydon on Thursday as part of Operation Hawk.

The operation saw 390 officers, including officers from 21 Safer Neighbourhoods Teams across Croydon were out in force targeting criminals involved in neighbourhood crime including drug dealing and anti-social behaviour.

In Croydon, 41 people were arrested, 17 search warrants carried out and six drugs seizures were made, including what is believed to be quantities of crack cocaine and cannabis. Other items seized by police included £1200.

Three people were arrested in connection with burglary offences relating to the disorder in the borough on August 8 and 9, and there were further arrests for offences ranging from possession with intent to supply drugs to theft and robbery.

Croydon Borough Commander Chief Superintendent David Musker said: "Our message to residents of Croydon is that if you tell your local Safer Neighbourhoods team about a problem, then we will take action to deal with it.

"This is not just a one-off, this is business as usual for Croydon police.

"The next date is already planned in December and there will be more days like this to come as we continue to target criminals operating in our local neighbourhoods.
