Shoppers were asked to buy an extra item for charity this Christmas yesterday.
Sainsbury’s in Putney took part in a one day food drive organised by charity FareShare.
The store asked customers to buy an extra food item to donate on Saturday, November 26.
FareShare, a national food charity, will now give the extra produce to the needy across the country.
The Putney store’s participation comes after a successful trial in July involving 19 Sainsbury’s stores nationwide. 25.5 tonnes of food was collected from the three day trial contributing enough food to feed 60,000 people.
