Two cannabis farms were found and two crack houses closed in Lambeth following a day of police raids.

As part of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s war on crime, Lambeth police arrested 19 people during Operation Hawk.

Eight of those were for drug offences.

The Safer Neighborhoods teams (SNTs) carried out seven estate sweeps over the 24 hour period, recovering a kitchen knife and a cosh.

An automated number plate recognition operation (ANPR) in Streatham resulted in one arrest.

A knife arch operation was held at Herne Hill railway station and at several of the boroughs schools to stop and deter those carrying weapons.

Herne Hill and Thurlow Park SNTs with Norwood local police team also made three arrests for handling stolen goods, after fifty laptops were found during a search of a property in Brixton.

Officers also found Sat-Navs and iPads at the address.

Borough Commander Nick Ephgrave said: “The communities in all wards across Lambeth are likely to see more operations of this kind from our 21 Safer Neighbourhoods teams, who, through their ongoing engagement, will continue to address local crime and safety concerns to help make our local areas safer."
