Crystal Palace fan Chris Dandy looks back on Saturday's 0-0 derby draw with Millwall.

After four games without a goal, the game against our south London rivals Millwall at Selhurst on Saturday seemed the perfect game to end the barren run.

After an opening first 15 minutes which neither team were able to impose themselves on the game, Palace created the first real opportunity when Dean Moxey beat Smith and whipped in a ball across the goal which the onrushing Glenn Murray failed to connect.

At the other end, the Palace defence looked nervy and made several unforced errors, one of which nearly resulted in a Millwall goal with Simpson's shot pushed away by Speroni.

Both teams struggled to keep the ball and constantly gave the ball away cheaply.

Palace's other best chance came when Glenn Murray's excellent overhead kick was turned away by Mildenhall.

The second half started brightly enough with Zaha being fed the ball more often and minutes into the second half should have resulted in a penalty when he was dragged down in the penalty box which the referee ignored.

A few minutes later and Zaha was put in the clear and his left-footed shot from an angle from 15 yards out was turned away by Mildenhall.

The goal drought looked set to continue but from Garvan's corner, McCarthy was pulled to the ground by Robinson and the referee pointed to the spot.

Up stepped Glenn Murray but to the dismay of the crowd he skewed his penalty horribly wide and into the Holmesdale.

It appeared that the missed penalty deflated both the crowd as well as the team and were unable to put together any late pressure on the Millwall defence.

A largely forgettable derby but we will be ruing a missed opportunity with the penalty and the run without a goal continues.
