Most people have family and friends to visit on Christmas Day but some elderly people are on their own and need somewhere to go to.
Once again this year, the 48th in total, the Rotary Club of Battersea Park will host a Christmas Day lunch for elderly people in a fully heated marquee in Battersea Park. On top of a lovely lunch guests will be able to enjoy an afternoon’s entertainment, a visit from the Mayor of Wandsworth and a visit from Father Christmas himself.
Around 400 people attend the lunch each year and the day is completely free.
The festive event is the Rotary’s way of saying Happy Christmas to the elderly but it does need volunteers to help things go smoothly.
Those who register will not only be able to make Christmas Day special for an elderly person but will also receive a complimentary Christmas dinner.
To register as a volunteer please call 020 8767 3948 or visit rotarychristmasday.org.uk If you would like to donate then please visit justgiving.com/rotarychristmasday.
