Police raided ten homes across the borough and made eleven arrests as part of Operation Hawk.

The London-wide initiative on Thursday (November 24) saw 4,000 officers crack down of local criminals.

A total of 50 officers in Sutton were involved, along with 30 community support officers.

Police arrested a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of possession of heroin on the Shanklin Estate in Sutton after Police knocked on her door at 8am.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the borough, arrests were made for drugs, burglary, threats to kill, benefit fraud and grievous bodily harm.

A Cannabis farm containing 21 plants was uncovered in Rewley Road, Carshalton, resulting in the arrests of a man and a woman in their mid-30s.

By 10am, a total of six arrest warrants had been carried out.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Chambers, who ran Operation Hawk at Sutton, said: “We want to send a message to local criminals that you will be the target of robust and relentless policing in Sutton - and you will be caught and brought before the courts,” he said. Further operations are planned.

An increased Police presence allowed Police to react faster to any other crimes in the borough.

Following a stabbing in Walllington on Thursday morning, Police arrived quickly on the scene and arrested a man in Beddington Park.

Police also caught a man attempting to steal a vending machine.
