A man was sent to prison today for the manslaughter of up-and-coming rapper Carl Beatson Asiedu.

Junior Ademujimi-Falade, 21, of Landor House, Elmington Estate, Camberwell, was sentenced to eight years in jail at the Old Bailey today.

He was tried under joint enterprise for his involvement in the manslaughter.

Mr Asiedu, who is from Norburry and was a former student of St Francis Xavier College, Clapham, was stabbed in the heart outside a nightclub in Kennington in August, 2009.

He was a successful club DJ under the name of Charmz and had performed a set at Club Life in Goding Street, Kennington on the night of his death.

The court heard he was approached by a group of men which included Ademujimi-Falade, and an arguement vroke out which resulted in the stabbing of Mr Asiedu.

His friends put him in a car and tried to drive him to hospital but were stopped by police as they jumped a red light.

Emergency services were called and ambulance crew performed open heart surgery on Mr Beatson Asiedu but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ademujimi-Falade was the fifth person sentenced in relation to Carl's murder.

Detective Inspector Alison Hepworth, homicide and serious crime directorate said: "If you choose to involve yourself in violence and you are with a knifeman and did not stab anyone, you could be arrested and find yourself tried and convicted for manslaughter. Today's sentencing should provide a stark reminder of this fact.

"Sadly Carl lost his life having spent the night working and socialising with his friends.

"He was stabbed during an arguement, a disagreement amongst others which did not involve him."
