A couple whose cooking started a fire in their kitchen were rescued by firefighters.
The fire started in their oven, spread to the back and then took hold of the extractor, a West Norwood fire station spokesman said.
The smoke detector in the flat in Williams House, High Trees, Lambeth, alerted them to the fire at about 10.15pm yesterday.
The spokesman said the oven was “pretty dirty”, and there were four or five pans in it, and the woman panicked.
He described the fire as small, and said there were no injuries.
