Flame jugglers and free carrot's were order of the day at the opening of a new nightclub.

At the opening of Wonderland in Sutton town centre, revellers were treated to a night of semi naked barmen and women on stilts.

Sparks flew as scantily clad women thrust chainsaws against their metal underwear.

The new club on Cheam Road opened officially on Friday night (December 2), but Thursday was a special VIP night to allow competition winners a taste of what is to come.

Following the closure of Kinetic earlier this year, the people who brought you student hotspot Oceana stepped in to take over the club.

The clubs reputation in recent years had been tarnished after gathering a reputation as a haunt of gangs after various incidents involving knives and guns.

Stevie Thomas, one of the clubs new managers, was keen to rid it of that infamy.

He said: "We are going for a very different market, the décor is like the dark side of Alice in Wonderland. It's much girlier than how it used to look."

And it looks great. The walls are adorned with psychedelic colours, and haunting tree scenery, with grand picture frames of rabbits.
