Traffic in Mitcham came to a standstill this morning after two drivers were injured in a car crash.
Streatham Road, next to Figge's Marsh in Mitcham, was shut in both directions following the collision at Garden Avenue at about 6.45am.
Merton police closed the main road, causing diversions to bus routes 127 and 201, after emergency services were called to reports of a person hit by a car.
Paramedics treated a 25-year-old man at the scene, who was taken to St George's Hospital for back pain as a priority.
A police spokesman described the smash as a "serious collision" and that both car drivers were receiving emergency care but their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
