Passersby rushed to help a man who had suffered a cardiac arrest in Wallington Square.

The man who is believed to be in his 50s, collapsed near Sainsbury’s at around 2pm on Sunday, November 27.

One witness describe how passersby stopped to help and began performing CPR on the man.

He said members of the public were queuing up to help as those performing CPR grew tired.

An ambulance arrived and staff tried to resuscitate the man who was taken to St Helier Hospital.

It is not known whether or not the man survived.

A spokesman from the ambulance service said that there is a 23 per cent survival rate of those who suffer a cardiac arrest in public in London.
