Hundreds of budding gardeners from a Claygate school took part in a family gardening day at the end of last month.
Children, parents and staff from Milbourne Lodge School took part in Get Your Grown-Ups Growing; an event for the Royal Horticultural Society’s school gardening campaign.
The day also celebrated the completion of the school’s new Centenary Garden, which marks 100 years since its foundation.
Headteacher Stephen Ilett said: “This was a wonderful day, which brought the whole school community together.”
Pupils sold homemade presents on a gift stall and Friends of Milbourne Lodge provided drinks and snacks for the hungry workers.
Esher Waitrose also provided lunch for the event and prizes sponsored by Garsons of Esher were awarded to photography competition winners.
The day was also the beginning of a school project to create an eco-greenhouse built of 2012 Coca-Cola bottles.
