A woman was treated for minor burns last night after her bedroom caught fire.
The incident happened at a house in Partridge Knoll, Purley, at about 9pm.
One crew from Purley fire station attended the scene, extinguished the fire and gave first aid to the 31-year-old victim.
A spokesman for the fire station said the blaze was sparked after an open candle set a curtain alight.
He said: “We were lucky they managed to put the majority of it out themselves. And luckily enough the smoke alarm went off too.”
