An absolutely fabulous woman has helped launch our Give Your Quid campaign.
Comedy star, June Whitfield, has been involved with St Raphael’s for a number for years.
The hospice is something she is passionate about and a place where she is always greeted with a smile.
The 86-year-old, who lives in Wimbledon, said: “I think that all the people that work at St Raphael’s show such dedication, how can I put it? They are absolutely fabulous.
“ The [Wimbledon and Sutton Guardian] are the best means to reach the local people who will be affected by it.
“It is a wonderful combination; the Guardian taking on the hospice as their project for a year.
“If anyone can do anything helpful - then why not?
“I’m sure, even in these hard times that people are so generous they can come up with something.
“I would just urge everybody in the district to come forth with £1 if they did the Hospice would be very grateful, anything more; even better.”
In between greeting people at the hospice, Mrs Whitfield joked about the AbFab specials this Christmas, exploding jeans and Duran Duran.
She said: “It’s such a happy atmosphere; people can come and go.
“They really do their best to look after you.”
