An Easter Eggstravaganza was held at Stoneleigh Library on Sunday.
The children's fun day, which included art activities, quizzes and refreshments, was attended by Epsom and Ewell's mayor, Councillor Sheila Carlson.
The event was organised by trustees and Friends of Stoneleigh Library, which is preparing to take over the running of the library if the county council's controversial planned library staffing cuts, currently stalled for legal reasons, are finally implemented.
The mayor was shown the library facilities and watched face painting, artistic endeavours by the children, and presented prizes to those who won the activities.
Coun Carlson also made a short speech in which she said she was delighted by the number of volunteers who had come forward and made themselves available to help the library.
Mike Teasdale, Stoneleigh councillor and a trustee for the friends, said: "We must have had at least 150 persons through the doors of the library and it appears that they all enjoyed themselves tremendously.
"The children especially enjoyed meeting and talking to the Mayor. It was a good day for all."
