Surrey Police will be cracking down on alcohol fuelled violence and disorderly behaviour this month by working closely with licensed premises, targeting police patrols in known hotspots and taking robust action against offenders.
Detective Superintendent Jon Savell, head of public protection, said: "Statistically April sees a spike in alcohol fuelled violent crimes and disorder that often leads to injury.
"We know that disorder flares up in areas where there is a concentration of licensed premises and there is a link between this disorder and violence that causes injury.
"We are therefore focusing on a robust approach to policing these areas and dealing with those people whose drunken actions ruin the enjoyment of others."
