The attack on Kingston Mosque was not an assault on one religion or group people – it was an assault on all of us who hold dear the British values of acceptance, tolerance and multiculturalism.
Kingston is a vibrant community that is proud of its multicultural roots and celebrates its diversity. That is what makes this horrible act of violence so very sad.
Only three people have been brought to justice for the violence on November 21, 2010, but we know up to 30 people were part of the threatening mob that shouted intimidating words and threw sticks and bacon at the mosque as elderly worshippers were left cowering inside.
Imagine if that was your father, your grandmother or your uncle – would you sit by and let those accountable for the attack go free?
We hope not, and that is why we are calling on our readers to help catch the rest of the thugs who took part in the assault.
So if you have any information that can help convict those involved, do the right thing and get in touch with the police – it is in the interests of us all that you do.
