A middle-aged man from Tooting has been jailed for plaguing his neighbourhood with disruptive, noisy and aggressive behaviour.
Clive Farquharson, who lives in Grierson House on the Aldrington Road estate, was jailed for nine months at Kingston Crown Court last week following his latest outburst.
As well as his immediate jail term Mr Farquharson was also given an anti-social behaviour order (Asbo), which has been drawn up to curb and improve his behaviour once he is released from custody.
The court heard that his latest flare-up followed an altercation he had with two teenagers outside Shenstone House on the estate.
During the incident Mr Farquharson snatched a cordless power drill from a man who was working nearby and chased after the two boys threatening to attack them with it.
Eventually he gave up the chase but not before hurling the drill to the ground and smashing it.
In court he admitted charges of criminal damage and affray.
The court also heard that the 45-year-old had made dozens of drunken and abusive hoax calls to the emergency services and over a prolonged period of time had caused enormous disturbance and disruption to people living nearby.
Incidents included banging on his neighbours' doors in the middle of the night to demand food or money, while some said they were fearful for their safety because Mr Farquharson had been known to throw furniture and other belongings off his balcony onto the ground below.
Under the terms of his Asbo Mr Farquharson is now prohibited from causing harassment, alarm or distress to any resident of Grierson House and is banned from throwing any item from its balconies.
The order remains in force until August 2015.
If Mr Farquharson is convicted of breaching its terms he faces up to five years in prison and/or an unlimited fine.
