Elmbridge Music has added a new string to its bow and launched a new orchestra.

In a move that has brought delight to its 300 members, the charity has formed Elmbridge Light Orchestra and is looking for musicians who would like the opportunity to accompany both Elmbridge Choir and Elmbridge Ladies Choir at their concerts.

The two choirs have, to date, mainly relied on professional backing tracks to accompany their performances, but feel that having live accompaniment will add another dimension .

Cliff van Tonder, founder of Elmbridge Music, said: “I have wanted to explore the use of live music for accompaniment of the choirs for a long time.

“Coupled with that, we currently have a waiting list of over 40 musicians on our big band waiting list - this is a fantastic way to tap into that talent.”

Interested parties are invited to a launch presentation and interactive workshop at 4pm on Saturday, April 21, in Weybridge Hall, where they can hear more about the orchestra and apply.

Musicians are asked to bring their instruments along for a short jam session.
