A man described as a Jekyll and Hyde character has been fined after swearing at police officers who wanted to search him for drugs.
Andrew Turner, of Bridge Street, Walton, pleaded guilty at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 12, to possessing 0.5g of cocaine and resisting arrest.
The 27-year-old plumbing engineer was part of a group drinking at the Swan in Walton on March 25, the court heard.
Police were made aware that people in the group had been caught taking cocaine, before leaving toward the high street.
When they found a group of that description in the Noble Vine, they went to search them.
Turner was part of the group and became “very irate”, the court heard.
When he was taken outside he had his hands clenched and was bouncing on his feet.
The court heard that Turner began swearing and struggling and his brother also stepped in, at which point CS spray was used.
When the situation was under control, Turner discarded a lottery ticket containing cocaine while walking toward the police van.
His defence solicitor said: “The defendant doesn’t have any drink or drug problem. The problem is him, it’s his weakness.”
Turner was fines £175 for each offence and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
