An Italian orchestra will broadcast a concert live from Milan to a cinema in Wimbledon.

The Filarmonica della Scala orchestra will perform a selection of George Gershwin favourites at a concert on Saturday, April 21, from the Teatro all Scala in Italy.

The live broadcast is the second in a series of four concerts to mark their 30th anniversary.

Cinema audiences will be transported to La Scala in Italy, considered a "temple" for classical music, experiencing the concert in high definition and surround sound quality.

The performance on April 21, screened at the Odeon cinema in Wimbledon Broadway, will showcase the talents of classical conductor Riccardo Chailly and jazz pianist Stefano Bollani who will perform some of George Gershwin’s most loved pieces including An American in Paris, Catfish Row and Concerto in F.

Francesco Micheli, one of Italy’s most reputed opera directors, will provide exclusive coverage from behind the scenes and interviews with the artists.

The concerts have been produced by Musicom.it in partnership with UniCredit, Nexo Digital and XDC Entertainment.

Josee Dubois, international sales director at Nexo Digital said: "Our association with XDC Entertainment for this series of exceptional concerts will raise the bar for LIVE classical events in cinemas and we are very excited about this unique once-in-a-lifetime programme.
