Croydon FC 4
Littlehampton Town 0
It could not have gone much better for the Trams in this comfortable win, which gives the club a handy £700 in prize money as a reward for reaching the second round of the FA Vase.
Littlehampton are having a woeful time at present. 17 members of their playing and management staff walked out just before the season started and they are rooted to the foot of the Sussex County League.
Apart from a sterling performance from their 17-year-old keeper Jon Hendrick and one or two defenders, they were hopelessly outclassed and eventually well beaten.
It took a little while for Croydon to break down Littlehampton's defence although they consistently threatened.
The Trams made their breakthrough after 20 minutes when Neil John reacted first to bundle Tim Murdoch's free-kick into the net.
The hosts doubled their lead with a decisive second on the stroke of half-time thanks to Rhoderique Davis's neat finish.
The second half brought two more goals. A clinical strike from Davis make things safe and a superb breakaway goal from the speedy Freeman put the finishing touch on an easy but important victory.
The Trams will face Sidley Utd in the second round.
Croydon FC: Harwood, Smith (James 63), Amaning, Young, Bennett, Kirby, Davis ( Davies 74), Murdoch, Quarshie (Charm 59), John, Freeman.
