A group of pensioners were pretty in pink to raise funds for St Raphael’s Hospice.
The event, at the Wimbledon Trinity Road Club on April 21, was organised by Lawrence Hutchinson, 63 from Faraday Road, whose wife died in 2009 after being treated at the hospice.
He said: "The service they do for people is unbelievable not just for the person who is dying by the family.
"You couldn’t go wrong with them and they deserve everything they get."
Anne ‘Pinky’ Kelly, 55 from Colliers Wood, has had pink hair for the last 25 years and was on hand to dye the hair of willing members, including one teenager.
She said: "They have been doing a lot and no one seems to give them the credit.
"I think they are absolutely fantastic.
"They have supported them for years now and I think it’s a lovely thing to do."
The event is expected to have raised about £600.
The Wimbledon Guardian is currently running its Give a Quid to raise funds for the 25-year old St Raphael’s Hospice - a care centre for those facing life threatening illnesses.
Every year the hospice ensures 900 terminally ill people – including from Merton - can die, either at the hospice or in their own homes, with minimum pain and maximum dignity.
