Residents in Battersea are the first in the country to benefit from a new ‘green’ approach being served up by Papa John’s pizza.

Delivery drivers at Papa John’s latest store to open its doors, Battersea Park Road in Battersea, have been issued with a fleet of electric bikes.

Eight electric bikes manufactured by Nip Nip are being trialled at the store over the coming months and, if successful, will be rolled out to other Papa John’s outlets across the country.

The bikes are powered by rechargeable batteries and can transport up to ten large pizzas, as well as drinks. It is estimated that by replacing the drivers’ existing method of transport, cars and petrol bikes, with the electric bikes, the store will deliver a cost saving that is the equivalent to the cost of fuel for a flight to Australia each year.

And to celebrate the arrival of the electric bikes, Papa John’s has joined forces with The Wandsworth Guardian to offer three lucky readers the chance to win themselves a large, original crust pizza, every month, for the next 12 months, from the store in Battersea.*
