The front line of Croydon's Labour Party has been expanded following the stepping down of shadow deputy leader councillor Paula Shaw.
Councillor Gerry Ryan, shadow cabinet member for streets and environmental services, and Councillor Stuart Collins, shadow cabinet member for culture and sports, will both step up to the deputy role after being elected at a meeting of the Labour Group last Thursday.
Coun Ryan has been with the party since 1998 and was responsible for introducing the borough's kerbside recycling collection when Labour held office.
Meanwhile Coun Collins - former Croydon mayor - has held public office for 14 years and was responsible for the expansion of many sports pitches and playgrounds in the borough.
Croydon Labour Party leader Councillor Tony Newman said: "After an election that showed the depth of talent on the Labour front bench, I am delighted that Gerry and Stuart will be joining the leadership team."
