The children of a Croydon grandfather who has recently undergone a life saving bone marrow transplant abseiled down Sunley House on Saturday to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
Susan Betts and Michael Hamm have waited all summer to see their father, Geoff Hamm, receive the treatment he desperately needed and in doing the 140ft abseil they have raised almost £3,000 for others in the same situation.
Geoff, who has seven grandchildren, was told six days before his birthday in January this year that he had a rare bone marrow disorder called myelodysplasia, which has caused him to develop leukaemia.
But in the last couple of weeks he finally received the life saving donor he has been waiting for and is now recovering at home after the operation.
