A disco night for disabled clubbers is to become a regular fixture in Croydon thanks to the persistence of a council worker.
Julie Brickley and her friends were fed up with the shortage of clubs catering for disabled people that she campaigned for the first one to be launched in Croydon.
The club night - called Julie's Disco - will start tomorrow (October 12) at the CRO Bar on High Street offering funky house music for disabled clubbers.
And to demonstrate just how seriously the club is taking the issue, the owner of CRO will spend the first night of Julie's Disco in a wheelchair to see how he can best address the needs of disabled customers.
Councillor Enley Taylor, cabinet member for community cohesion and customer and organisational services, said: "I'm delighted that the club have agreed to hold this promotion. It's important that businesses recognise everyone's needs and we hope more clubs take the CRO's lead."
Julie's Disco will take place this Thursday between 7.30pm and midnight.
