Two letters in your edition of September 21 are most worthy of comment.
Firstly the letter from Roy E Bennett (Sic transit gloria) attacks me for apparently "knowing the cost of everything and the value of nothing", in regard to "public artwork we can all enjoy".
I would ask Mr Bennett if he thinks that a council's priority should be to spend £1,000 on a piece of "artwork" that isn't that good anyway, or £1,000 towards refurbishing the council-run elderly care homes that are rapidly falling apart in the borough? I know where my answer would lie.
Secondly Councillor Drage (and the rest of the Liberal Democrats), while trying to obtain political capital out of the borough's so-called green transport plan', omit to tell residents that this borough alone contributes in excess of £20million to Transport for London, yet receives back less than £5million.
Perhaps Mr Bennett calls that value for money too?
