Two students from Croydon's Brit School have made it to the final stages of an art competition launched to celebrate 30 years of the Commission for Racial Equality.
Students from schools in England, Scotland and Wales were invited to enter the Young Brits at Art competition to draw and paint pictures about how they see themselves in Britain today.
Sixteen-year-old Ayesha Hanid's said her piece - entitled Personal Memories - was inspired by Tracy Emin's textiles work, her childhood and the atmosphere in her home. Meanwhile, the inspiration behind Lydia Burchill's work - Appearance - was the emotions she experienced when she shaved all her hair off.
The winning entries will be announced at an award ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall next Tuesday, where an exhibition of the top 100 pieces of work will be on public display until November 7.
