I would like to ask any Wimbledon Guardian readers who fancy a challenge to consider running the Flora London Marathon for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Last year 16 Marie Curie nurses in Merton cared for 40 seriously-ill cancer patients in their own homes, free of charge.
By running the Flora London Marathon for Marie Curie Cancer Care, you will be helping us provide practical support for people with cancer and their families at a very tough time. The ballot to enter closes on October 31 so you still have time to apply.
Completing a marathon is a tremendous achievement and one that will stay with you for the rest of your life. And if you sign up to be part of the Marie Curie Cancer Care team we will provide you with unrivalled support including training advice, fundraising tips, a free running vest, excellent on the day support from our "cheer stations" and a fantastic post-race party.
And you'll also get the benefit of knowing that with every step you take your efforts are raising funds which will make a real and positive difference to the lives of cancer patients and their families.
