The rightful owner of a mystery box filled with old letters, photographs and other personal items has been found, thanks to the Croydon Guardian.
Paulina Hunold was contacted by friends who saw last week's story on the Heritage page.
The Croydon Guardian reported how an Addiscombe family who were mistakenly sent the package wanted to return it before they moved away from the area for good.
The package had been kept in their attic for the last five years because they did not have the previous owner's forwarding address.
It had been sent from an address in New Jersey in 2001.
This week the box's rightful owner Paulina Hunold contacted the newsroom.
Paulina, who now lives in Essex, said: "My old gardener who used to know me when I lived at the house in Lower Addiscombe Road saw the story and contacted me.
"He put me in touch with the family who bought the house. The box of things were sent to me when my aunt Rita died. I'm delighted, but the first thing I need to do it thank the woman who sent it. She must think I'm terribly rude."
Sarah Thompson, who had been looking after the box at her home in Lower Addiscombe Road, said: "I'm so pleased she's been found. I can move from this house with a clear conscience now."
