I was disappointed to hear the Warehouse Theatre is in danger of losing the annual grant that it receives from Croydon Council. As you may be aware, the Warehouse has been in existence for some 30 years.
There are undoubted economic and cultural benefits that the Warehouse brings to Croydon, and the work on construction of new premises is due to start soon.
It therefore this seems an odd time to even consider removal of a grant, small in the general order of Croydon finances, and in comparison to, for example, the Clocktower.
I have contacted the council and have urged them to consider the implications for this thriving theatre, and to at least ensure that the current level of funding is continued, if not increased.
Perhaps you can look into this matter and provide information for your Croydon readers, before it is too late.
