A teenager has appeared in court in connection with an incident in Chessington which left him and two others facing hospital treatment.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named due to his age, was charged with attempted robbery when he appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court this morning.
The Tolworth boy was charged with attempting to rob another teenager of herbal cannabis at the Sir Francis Barker Recreation Ground, Chessington, on Tuesday, May 30.
He appeared in the dock with a bandage over his cheek, wearing a black tracksuit zipped top, with his mother sitting in court.
Prosecutor Douglas Lloyd briefly laid out the case against the teenager. He was not asked to enter a plea because the matter was deemed too serious to be dealt with by magistrates.
Lead magistrate Derek Frampton denied him bail.
His case will be committed to Kingston Crown Court at a hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on June 9.
Police have arrested two other teenagers, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, in connection with the incident.
One of them is still in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police cordoned off a bus stop, alleyways and a pavement outside houses in Nigel Fisher Way on Tuesday.
