Gera 45, Kamara 48Crystal Palace slumped to their second defeat in a week after goals from Zoltan Gera and Diomansy Kamara hit the Eagles' stuttering promotion push.

Goals either side of half-time by Hungarian international Gera and Kamara ensured the confident Baggies went home with all three points.

The result condemned lacklustre Palace to another home defeat - and a chorus of full time boos.

But maybe more worryingly for Peter Taylor, the much maligned strikeforce of Shefki Kuqi and James Scowcroft failed to spark yet again - and in truth never looked like doing so.

After the game Taylor admitted he was disappointed with his side's recent poor form: "We haven't done enough in the last couple of games to even look like winning - and I'll take the can for that.

"We were second best to everything and I understand the crowd's reaction. They are frustrated and I certainly wouldn't pay money to see that kind of performance either."

The tone of the game was set minutes into the first half when the impressive Gera's dipping 35-yard half volley was tipped over by the his fellow countryman Gabor Kiraly - the first of a string of fine saves by the Hungarian during the night.

Scowcroft wasted Palace's best chance of the first half when his header from a Mark Kennedy cross went agonisingly wide.

Leon Cort should have put Palace one up but his side footed effort from another Kennedy cross somehow trickled wide.

Palace were made to pay for the missed chance when on the stroke of half time Gera slotted home Nathan Ellington's cross to put West Brom in front.

Any hope Palace had of taking something from the game was shattered just three minutes after the restart when Kamara raced through to slot past Kiraly and put the game out of reach for Peter Taylor's men.

West Brom controlled the game from there on in and went close to adding to their lead through Jason Koumas and Darren Carter.

The closest Palace came to cutting the deficit was during the final moments when Scowcroft's neat turn and half-volley struck the inside of the post.
