Old Elthamians 17
Purley John Fisher 22
PJF showed their mettle this weekend in this gratifying victory at hosts Old Elthamians and continue to share top spot in London South East Three.
The visitors were 17-10 in arrears at half-time despite a sprightly start which saw Campbell-Carson open the scoring with a blistering try from 22 metres out. Sorrell added the conversion as well as a penalty to keep his side in the hunt.
Elthamians showed they belonged at this level with three well-worked counter attacking tries. But it was PJF's team work and solid defence that saw them through despite a couple of injury setbacks.
Booth scored a try early in the second half and Sorrell's second conversion precariously balanced the match. A try by Captain Kerr - a sneaky blindside move that saw him score from 10 metres out - put the visitors in the lead.
Thereafter all hands were required on deck as they mounted a rearguard action to prevent their hosts from taking anything from this contest.
