The proud mother of a popular Croydon teacher and travel agent has remembered her "determined and inspirational" daughter.

Louise Lawrence was found collapsed at her home in Mayday Road, Thornton Heath, last November.

Croydon Coroner's Court heard the 31-year-old was rushed to Croydon University Hospital, but doctors were unable to save her and she died the same day.

A post mortem examination found Miss Lawrence died of acute pancreatitis.

After the inquest, her mother Claudette spoke of an "exceptional young lady."

She said: "That is not just me saying that as her mother, it's what her friends and colleagues have said. She had so many friends they all loved her."

When she was just three-years-old Louise was diagnosed with Wilms' tumour, a cancer of the kidney which typically occurs in children.

The treatment resulted in her needing a lung transplant in 2008, but the operation put Louise in intensive care for a number of months and she had to learn to walk again.

After the transplant Louise developed post transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) in her other lung and liver.

A month later she developed heart failure, but she was determined not let her bad health get in the way.

Ms Lawrence recalls: "It was really worrying, but she was just so determined.

"You would never imagine she was in agony most days, most people wouldn't even know and would talk to her about their problems which she would help them with in any way she could."

Louise worked at Thomas Cook for more than 10 years, and in 2010 was awarded the company's highest accolade, Employee of the Year.

She also worked as a reception class teacher, but still found the time to raise money for a number of charity's including Clic Sargent and Live Life then Give Life.

Ms Lawrence added: "She loved teaching and the children loved her. She was a qualified teacher, and wanted to go on to become an educational psychologist, which was her ultimate goal.

"I couldn't be more proud of her, everybody just loved her.

"I used to look at her in amazement, having the strength to do all that when some days she couldn't breathe without difficulty and couldn't move. She was an inspiration."

Verdict: Death by natural causes
